The Stumbling Stone - Romans 9:30-33

In this episode we conclude **Epistle to the Romans 9 with verses 30–33, where the Apostle Paul contrasts two approaches to righteousness. Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness attained it by faith, while many in Israel pursued righteousness through the law but failed to reach it.Paul explains that Israel stumbled because they sought righteousness through works rather than through faith. Instead of trusting in Christ, they were offended by Him—the very One God had appointed as the cornerstone.Quoting the prophets, Paul describes Jesus as both a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense. Yet he also gives a wonderful promise: whoever believes in Him will never be put to shame.This passage highlights the heart of the gospel. Salvation cannot be earned through human effort or religious performance. True righteousness is received only through faith in Jesus Christ. The same Christ who causes some to stumble becomes the secure foundation for all who believe.
